Circ Studio Wants to See Your Most Useless Design Idea
Submissions Are Open for the Second Useless Design Awards.
Last year’s ‘Useless Design Awards’ featured a confessional booth fitted with microphones, wired headphones made from human hair and a lava lamp billboard. Now, Circ Studio is opening submissions for its second edition, with entries accepted until November 25th.
The competition invites artists, designers and architects from around the world to submit deliberately impractical, absurd or otherwise “useless” ideas. The winner will receive an $800 cash prize, with selected works set to be exhibited in Dubai at Secta Open Air on November 28th.
Circ Studio is a Dubai-based architectural and design practice founded by Palestinian architect Sara Bokr. The studio describes architecture as a “playground” and regularly works with absurdity and experimentation, with the Useless Design Awards built around ideas that would normally be dismissed for being too impractical, strange or unnecessary.
