Soulja Navigates the Space Between Noise and Numbness on '0 Views'

Channeling sharp reflection and self-awareness at an ambitious scope, Sudanese rapper Soulja returns with his latest EP, '0 Views'. The four-track project, paired with a short film directed and written by TheAymen, finds an uneasy balance between the numbing loneliness and vibrant social life of today’s generation. Across the EP, Soulja dissects isolation, social distraction, and self-reliance over a rich, genre-blending sonic landscape.

The project opens with "INTRO," produced by MShakil. The track begins on a sparse, atmospheric base of lush pads and choir-like textures that build a quiet tension. Soulja’s stream-of-consciousness delivery dives into deep reflections on patience, hard work, and belief in oneself before the track elevates with the entry of warm guitars, bass, and a full beat, while maintaining a distinctly melancholic undertone.

Visually, TheAymen grounds this introspection through a window into the life of the protagonist, played by Dina Manan, who is alone in her home, absorbed in her thoughts, and facing surreal moments that eventually lead to a cathartic scream.

‘DAWAMA’, produced by Khayyat, shifts the energy into a bouncy, laid-back groove driven by squiggly guitar riffs and a buoyant bassline. Soulja leans into wordplay and humor, jokingly noting that without a therapist, he vents to his barber, while continuing to represent Sudanese culture and explore heavy themes. Here, the short film captures the protagonist dressing in a sparkly outfit to host a lively party, visually mirroring the thin line between internal unease and social distraction.

The energy turns sharper on ‘LOOKLOOK’, a bass-heavy trap cut produced by 77. Soulja plays with rhythm and vocal inflection, repeating final syllables to match the track’s assertive attitude. At this point, the visual narrative plays with reality, as the seemingly casual hangout is abruptly revealed to be entirely inside the main character's head just as her friends actually arrive at the door. Panicked and aware, she transitions into the spotlight in a new dress, with frantic, anxious editing cutting between her getting ready and enjoying the center of attention.

The EP concludes with ‘JAWAB’, also produced by MShakil. Built on a chill, laid-back trap rhythm with subtle finger snaps and clean guitar lines, the track features Soulja shifting fluidly between his chest and head voice to address accountability, closing with expressive guitar and synth solos. The short-film ends on a more hopeful note, as the protagonist takes a caged bird into her car, drives toward the ocean, and sets it free on the shore.

Throughout '0 Views', Soulja and TheAymen construct a thoughtful contrast between the quiet isolation of inner thought and the vibrant noise of social life, anchored by a diverse set of instrumentals that give the project real emotional heft.
