Ghaliaa Takes a Detour Into Lo-Fi With Six-Track EP of Remixes

Ghaliaa has always been an artist who refuses to sit still, and her latest project proves that her musical compass is as unpredictable as it is creative. Known for her soul-stirring vocals, the UAE-based Syrian artist has taken a sharp, intentional turn into the world of Lo-Fi with her newest release, titled ‘Arabic Lo-Fi Hit’s. Made for “the minds that never sleep, finding peace in the chaos of their own thoughts,”, the six-track EP of remixes offers a reimagining of some of her top hits which invite listeners into a more intimate, late-night headspace.

With a sound that’s a rich mixture of of R&B, hip-hop, jazz, and indie rock influenced by everything from Fairouz and Umm Kulthum to Adele and Elvis Presley, Ghaliaa  famously taught herself production and has mastered instruments ranging from the piano to the darbuka, making this EP - nasam and Mshakil - a unique stylistic exploration. The EP reworks tracks such as ‘3abali’, ‘Ana El Bent’, ‘Bedi Ehkik’ and ‘Le'beh’, though the highlight comes in the form of ‘Ezzay’. Ali Loka’s vocals fit seamlessly in the Lo-Fi setting, before the EP closes with ‘Elak w Bas’.

The EP taps into a growing craving for music that functions as a soundtrack for decompressing, though it maintains the emotional core of Ghaliaa’s music, and the strength of her songwriting remains undeniable.
