Youssra El Hawary to Host 'Taraddud' Parties Across Egypt this June
Long overdue for the Egyptian artist, the series of parties will kick off at CJC on June 5th, running through June 20th at Jesuit in Alexandria.
As Youssra El Hawary puts it herself: "Some music needs time before it finds its way to the stage." Nearly eight months since its release, her 2025 EP Taraddud is finally making its live debut with a run of shows across Cairo and Alexandria.
A beloved figure in Cairo's underground scene, El Hawary returned last September after an eight-year hiatus with Taraddud, a title carrying a double meaning in Arabic, referring both to her own hesitation in finding the right musical voice, and to the frequencies of urban noise that saturate her environment. Her first release since her 2017 debut No'oum Nasyeen, the three-track EP weaves field recordings from Cairo's streets with jazz, folk, and ambient electronics, and marks her debut as a producer.
The June run includes full concerts alongside intimate listening sessions with Q&As, making a fitting format for an EP this rooted in the textures of the city.
