Worker Protection Payouts Top AED 320 Million in H1 2026

More than 44,000 workers in the UAE received compensation worth over AED 320 million through the Workers Protection Programme during the first half of 2026, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).

The ministry also said the Unemployment Insurance Scheme paid out more than AED 512 million to insured workers who lost their jobs between the beginning of 2024 and the end of the first half of 2026.

Beyond financial support, the ministry reported that around 800,000 workers participated in community activities held at more than 60 locations across the UAE to mark national occasions and public holidays. It also said all targeted workers completed mandatory guidance courses, while more than 1.3 million workers benefited from awareness programmes delivered in 17 languages.

The ministry added that digital monitoring and field inspections are supporting the implementation of the Occupational Heat Stress Prevention Policy, which runs annually from June 15th to September 15th. As part of the initiative, more than 12,000 rest stations are being provided for delivery riders during the summer period.

Meanwhile, the number of accommodation facilities registered under the Labour Accommodation System surpassed 2,800 by the end of June, providing housing for around two million workers in line with approved health, safety and wellbeing standards.
