UAE Traffic Plan Targets Safe School Commutes

A nationwide traffic plan has been announced across the United Arab Emirates to support the return of students to schools, with increased monitoring and enforcement measures during peak hours. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Interior through the Federal Traffic Council, is being implemented in coordination with police general commands across the country.
The plan includes intensified traffic patrols around schools, major roads and key intersections, as well as along internal and external routes. Patrols will be concentrated during morning start times and after school dismissal to regulate movement and facilitate the flow of school buses.
Authorities said the measures also prioritise pedestrian safety, with a focus on securing crossings to ensure students can enter and leave school premises safely.
Motorists have been urged to remain vigilant, reduce speeds near schools and comply with traffic regulations. Drivers were reminded to come to a complete stop when a school bus stop arm is extended.
