New Platform Enables Price Comparison of Essential Goods in UAE

A digital platform has been launched in the United Arab Emirates to allow consumers to compare live prices of essential goods across major retail outlets. The Main Commodities Prices Platform, introduced by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, tracks the prices of 33 items across 12 leading retailers, enabling users to view and compare identical products in real time.
The monitored goods include cooking oils, eggs, dairy products, rice, sugar, poultry, meat, fish, legumes and bread, alongside fresh produce such as bananas, oranges, apples, cucumbers, tomatoes and potatoes. Items are divided into 17 basic consumer goods and 16 additional major goods, with the system designed to help shoppers identify the most cost-effective options at the point of purchase.
The platform is accessible online through the ministry’s official website.
