UAE Council Renamed to Focus on AI in Government Operations
The updated body will oversee AI-led policy implementation and the shift towards autonomous systems.
The Ministerial Development Council has been renamed the Ministerial Council for Artificial Intelligence and Development, reflecting an expanded mandate to integrate advanced technologies across federal operations.
Chaired by Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the council will focus on embedding artificial intelligence into government systems, including the transition towards agentic AI capable of autonomous execution and decision-making.
Its scope includes enhancing the efficiency of implementing policies, legislation and public services through AI-driven tools, as well as overseeing how federal entities apply technology across their operations.
The council will also review proposals submitted by ministries and federal bodies, providing recommendations to the Cabinet on legislative and strategic frameworks.
