Saudi Museums Commission Launches Museum Studies Master's Degree
The Saudi Museums Commission has partnered with SOAS University of London to launch a joint Master's in Museum Studies, combining international expertise with training delivered in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Museums Commission has launched a joint Master of Arts in Museum Studies with SOAS University of London for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The programme will be offered at Effat University in Jeddah and Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Dammam, with students based in Saudi Arabia while completing a dedicated academic residency at SOAS in London.
Designed to prepare professionals for careers across the museum and heritage sectors, the 12-month programme combines academic study with practical training in museology, curatorship and cultural management.
The curriculum covers research, digital media, collections management, exhibition design, archiving and community engagement, equipping graduates for roles within Saudi Arabia's expanding cultural landscape.
Teaching is scheduled to begin at Effat University on August 30th, followed by Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University on September 6th.
Applications for the inaugural cohort are open until July 10th.
