Saudi Health Campaign Wins GovMedia Award for Healthy Cities
The Ministry of Health received the honour for a campaign promoting healthy cities and quality of life across the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Health has won the Saudi Arabia Campaign of the Year – Health award at the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026 for a public awareness campaign promoting healthier cities and improved quality of life across the Kingdom.
The campaign supports the Healthy Cities programme, which is delivered in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), government entities, private sector organisations and local communities. The initiative focuses on developing cities that promote public health, environmental sustainability and social wellbeing.
Designed to broaden public understanding of health beyond healthcare services, the campaign highlighted the role of urban planning, environmental quality, public spaces, physical activity and community participation in improving wellbeing. It also showcased the programme's progress and achievements across the Kingdom.
A key focus of the campaign was Saudi Arabia's network of 16 WHO-accredited Healthy Cities, the largest number in the region. Through case studies and success stories, the initiative highlighted the impact of these cities on residents while promoting best practices in healthy urban development.
The campaign was delivered through an integrated media strategy that included digital content, video production, visual campaigns, media coverage and social media engagement. Interactive content, awareness infographics and media partnerships were also used to communicate programme milestones and encourage healthier behaviours among the public.
Presented by GovMedia Magazine, the GovMedia Conference & Awards recognises public sector initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region that demonstrate innovation and best practices in government communications and service delivery.
