Saudi Arabia Ranked First Globally in Telecommunications Development
The ranking comes as the Kingdom's ICT market reaches SAR 199 billion, with internet and mobile usage both at 100%.
Saudi Arabia has ranked first globally in the 2026 ICT Development Index (IDI) published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which measures digital development across 159 countries.
According to the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), the ranking reflects continued investment in digital infrastructure, government support and a regulatory environment that has helped strengthen the telecommunications and technology sector. The commission said these efforts have also supported the expansion of the Kingdom's digital economy.
By the end of 2025, Saudi Arabia's ICT market had reached SAR 199 billion, growing at an average annual rate of 8% over the previous five years to become the largest and fastest-growing ICT market in the Middle East and North Africa.
The CST also reported that internet and mobile phone usage have both reached 100% across the Kingdom. Median fixed broadband speeds stand at 151 Mbps, while median mobile internet speeds have reached 216 Mbps.
