Saudi Arabia Enters G20 Top Five for Mobile Internet Speeds

Saudi Arabia has ranked among the G20's five fastest countries for mobile internet speeds, with the national average reaching 216 Mbps, according to the fifth edition of the Saudi Internet 2025 report published by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST).

The report found that average mobile internet speeds increased from 203 Mbps a year earlier, while the median 5G download speed reached 320 Mbps. Median mobile internet latency was recorded at 24 milliseconds.

In the fixed broadband sector, median download speeds rose to 151 Mbps, up from 120.4 Mbps in the previous report. Median upload speeds reached 73 Mbps, while latency stood at 8 milliseconds, based on data analysed by Ookla.

The report also found that average monthly mobile data consumption reached 53 GB per person, around three times the global average. Total internet data traffic across the Kingdom reached 69 million terabytes, with 56% comprising domestic traffic and 44% international traffic. Mobile and fixed internet networks each accounted for 50% of total data traffic.

By region, the Riyadh Region generated 30.6% of total internet traffic, followed by the Makkah Region at 20.5% and the Eastern Province at 16.8%.

According to the report, 67% of users have enabled Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), while the number of Saudi Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) has reached nearly 200. It also noted that Saudi Arabia ranked first globally in the 2026 Information and Communication Technology Development Index published by the International Telecommunication Union, placing ahead of 159 economies.
