Riyadh Airport Will Close Until October 17th

Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport will remain closed until October 17th, 2026, following an extension of its operational suspension by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

In a statement issued on October 12th, GACA said the extension would allow authorities to complete the necessary checks to verify the safety of the airport’s facilities and confirm their operational readiness.

The closure follows a series of attacks on the airport over the weekend, claimed by the Houthis, that reportedly killed 12 people and injured 309, while disrupting air travel to and from the Saudi capital. Airlines have since suspended or cancelled services to Riyadh, with several carriers extending their flight disruptions in response to the attacks.
