Opera Garage Site in Attaba to Be Redeveloped as Tourist Hotel
The former Opera Garage site has been allocated to a private developer for a new hotel project in central Cairo.
The Opera Garage site in Attaba will be redeveloped into a tourist hotel after the land was allocated to a private-sector company, according to Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber.
The project will see the centrally located site transformed into an integrated tourist hotel as part of wider efforts to redevelop downtown Cairo and expand hospitality facilities in the capital.
Separately, Saber said work is continuing to upgrade the extension of Sour Magra El Oyoun, where 3 kilometres of public space are being developed through local efforts in cooperation with a member of parliament. He said 900 metres have already been completed and opened as a public promenade, with construction continuing along the remaining section.
The governor also outlined ongoing transport projects, including the expansion of transport terminals in Al Salam, Al Alf Maskan and Ramses. He confirmed that tuk-tuks remain prohibited from operating on main roads and streets, with their use restricted to internal and side streets.
As part of the same transport strategy, Cairo has begun introducing alternative vehicles in the Northern District as the first phase of a wider rollout intended to provide safer and more formal transport options across additional areas of the capital.
