New HR Guide to Support UAE Employees With Multiple Sclerosis
Additional resources include Talking About Your MS Diagnosis and Empowering Carers guides, plus activations across more than 30 locations and a public webinar on June 5th.
A new HR guide has been launched in the UAE to help employers better support employees living with multiple sclerosis (MS), as part of a nationwide campaign marking World Multiple Sclerosis Day on May 30th.
Endorsed by The Butterfly, an organisation focused on inclusion and accessibility, the guide offers practical recommendations on workplace accessibility, accommodations and flexible support. It forms a key part of this year's World MS Day campaign led by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), now in its fourth year across the UAE.
Alongside the HR guide, NMSS has released two additional resources: a self-advocacy guide designed to help people discuss an MS diagnosis with family, friends and colleagues, and a guide for carers supporting individuals living with MS and other chronic conditions. While developed with multiple sclerosis in mind, the resources are intended to benefit anyone navigating life with a long-term health condition.
This year's campaign, themed "My MS Diagnosis: Navigating MS Together", is being rolled out through more than 30 healthcare facilities and partner networks across the UAE. Awareness activities include a "Carry It Forward" café activation taking place at more than 30 locations on May 30th and 31st, as well as landmark illuminations across the country.
The campaign will conclude with a free public webinar on June 5th featuring specialists in nutrition, mental health and medical research, who will discuss wellbeing strategies and the latest multiple sclerosis research being conducted in the UAE.
