Museums Across Egypt Will Offer Free Entry on March 18th
The measure coincides with International Museum Day and follows a Supreme Council of Antiquities board meeting.
Egyptians will be able to enter antiquities museums across the country free of charge on May 18th, 2026, to mark International Museum Day.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the free entry initiative applies to museums currently open to visitors, excluding the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
The decision was approved during a meeting of the Supreme Council of Antiquities board chaired by Minister Sherif Fathy at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
During the session, officials reviewed the council’s financial performance for March and April, reporting increased revenues compared with the same periods in 2024 and 2025.
The meeting also covered recent archaeological discoveries, restoration projects, and visitor service upgrades across museums and heritage sites.
