Ministry of Culture to Launch Egypt’s First Virtual Cultural Palace
The new ‘e-Sakafa’ platform will connect audiences to cultural activities and performances across Egypt online.
A virtual cultural palace platform under the name ‘e-Sakafa’ is being developed by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The platform is designed to make cultural and educational content easier to access online while expanding the reach of activities organised by cultural palaces across different governorates.
According to the ministry, the platform will function as a central hub for cultural programming, allowing audiences to read, watch, and participate remotely through digital channels connected to cultural palaces nationwide.
Preparations are underway to compile data for all cultural palaces ahead of introducing free internet services at these venues. Each cultural palace will be equipped with a digital “Work Place” platform intended to support interaction with educational and cultural activities.
The e-Sakafa application will include performances, workshops, artistic materials, and cultural releases from cultural palaces across the country, while also linking creators directly with audiences.
Alongside the platform, the ministry is also developing an application listing artistic and musical performances held inside the Cairo Metro, allowing users to browse events by date, location, and programme details.
Another application is being developed for Qena Cultural Palace to provide audiences with activity schedules, participation details, and updates on local cultural programming.
