Dubai Police Expands Inmate Training to Help Post-Release Employment
Courses aim to improve employability and support reintegration through education, skills development, and structured programmes.
Dubai Police has introduced a new cycle of training programmes for inmates aimed at building practical skills and supporting reintegration after release. The initiative is organised by the Inmate Education and Training Department within the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, covering a range of educational, vocational, and personal development areas.
Programmes include courses in smart agriculture, arts, and basic cultivation, alongside broader vocational training designed to improve employability. The current cycle includes a smart agriculture course attended by 35 inmates, a free drawing course with 10 participants, a fabric painting course for female inmates, and a basic flower cultivation programme involving 21 participants.
Officials said the department operates through four divisions covering educational, religious, sports, and vocational activities. Educational programmes support inmates continuing their studies at different levels, providing learning materials, literacy support, and digital skills development.
Additional programmes include religious lectures and memorisation sessions, as well as sports activities aimed at improving physical well-being and social interaction. Vocational training focuses on equipping inmates with practical skills for employment, with an emphasis on self-reliance and opportunities for entrepreneurship after release.
