Civil Defense Lifts Emergency Alerts in Southern Saudi Regions
The alerts were lifted on September 14th after authorities said the danger had passed in Jazan, Najran and parts of Asir.
Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense lifted all emergency alerts on September 14th, 2026, after authorities said the danger had passed in Jazan and Najran, as well as Khamis Mushait governorate and Abha city in the Asir region.
The directorate urged residents to continue following official safety instructions and guidance even after the alerts were withdrawn.
Earlier warnings had been issued through the National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies following a series of cross-border drone and missile attacks linked to Yemen’s Houthi militia. Mobile alerts and alarms urged residents to move indoors, seek shelter and follow official instructions.
Civil Defense guidance during the alerts advised people to stay away from open areas and glass, avoid balconies and rooftops, and head to the nearest safe building if outside. Where immediate shelter was unavailable, residents were advised to use solid cover.
The directorate also warned against gathering near dangerous locations or taking photographs in affected areas, and urged the public not to circulate rumours, unverified videos or material from unknown sources.
Authorities said information should be obtained only through official channels.
