Cairo Airport to Launch Travel App After Passenger Surge

Cairo International Airport will launch a new mobile application for travellers by the end of May after annual passenger traffic rose 37% to 31 million in 2025, according to the Holding Company for Airports.

The app, developed over two years, connects directly to airport databases through a cyber-secure system and will allow users to check flight schedules, book airline tickets, and reserve internal airport services including limousine transportation.

The airport is currently operating at a capacity of approximately 71,000 travellers per day. Alongside the public-facing application, the Holding Company for Airports also launched an internal digital transformation platform this month.

Administrative approvals are now processed electronically through an internally developed system using electronic signatures and a full digital archive of official communications.

Documents are registered digitally with outgoing numbers and dates on company servers, which are set to connect with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and affiliated companies.

The system will also expand to permanent agents, technical offices, and other companies to reduce approval delays previously linked to paper-based procedures.

Paper documents are gradually being withdrawn from operations following employee training, with records now digitally stored as part of wider efforts to reduce paper, ink, and energy consumption.
