Abu Dhabi's E20 Highway is Expanding With Five Lanes & Bridges
The project includes new ramps, internal roads, upgraded utilities and landscaping to improve traffic flow around Zayed International Airport.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) is expanding the E20 highway in Khalifa City, widening the road from three lanes to five to improve traffic flow and strengthen connections to Zayed International Airport.
The project includes four new bridges, along with 10.5 km of additional ramps and loops designed to ease congestion and reduce bottlenecks along the corridor.
To improve access within surrounding communities, DMT will also construct 1.5 km of internal roads and add eight signalised junctions across Khalifa City and the Zayed International Airport area. Landscaping works are also planned to expand green spaces along the route.
Supporting infrastructure will be upgraded as part of the project, including a 62 km stormwater drainage network, a 37 km irrigation network and the installation of 485 streetlights.
According to DMT, the expansion forms part of its wider programme to modernise the emirate's transport infrastructure, improve mobility, accommodate population growth and enhance road safety.
