AFC Postpones the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia to December 2027

The 2027 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup has been postponed, with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announcing that the tournament will now take place from December 23rd, 2027, to January 21st, 2028, in Saudi Arabia.

Originally scheduled to run from January 7th to February 5th, 2027, the tournament was rescheduled following consultations between the AFC, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and the local organising committee, amid regional developments including substantial logistical complexities and travel disruptions.

The decision comes just days following the AFC’s release of the tournament’s match schedule. In its announcement, the AFC said the decision was made with the interests of participating teams, officials and fans in mind, adding that the revised dates will be submitted to FIFA for approval.
