2026 Summer Midday Work Ban Lifted for Private Sector in Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has concluded the 2026 seasonal ban on working under direct sunlight, which ran from June 15th to September 15th across private-sector establishments. The measure restricted outdoor work during peak midday hours to reduce heat-related risks for employees working on site.

Implemented in coordination with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, the policy is intended to strengthen preventive measures and occupational safety practices during periods of extreme heat. During the enforcement period, ministry teams carried out 29,945 inspection visits nationwide.

Private-sector establishments recorded a 95% compliance rate, while 1,771 violations were documented. Authorities also handled 41 reports related to implementation of the decision.

The ministry said the figures reflected growing awareness among employers of occupational safety and health requirements and the need to maintain safer working conditions during periods of high temperatures.
