The Supper Club at Soma Bay: A Feast of Sun, Sea, and Soul

Some places you arrive at. Others, you ease into — like a memory you didn’t know you had. Somabay is the latter. And this past April, it became the setting for a gathering that redefined the idea of a dinner party.

Hosted on the pristine shores of Wyte Beach, the fifth edition of The Supper Club by House Babylon wasn’t just another stylish seaside soirée. It was a celebration, of abundance, of intention, and of the quiet kind of joy that comes from feeling truly connected. To the people around you. To the place beneath your feet. To yourself.

Founded as a lifestyle and hospitality collective, House Babylon has become known for its immersive experiences that merge food, design, and human connection, always with a signature undercurrent of thoughtfulness and aesthetic clarity. Whether through its iconic linen collections or its evolving series of supper clubs, the brand exists somewhere between ritual and revelation, creating moments that feel both deeply personal and quietly cinematic.

Shoes were the first thing to go. Upon arrival, guests were invited to slip them off, a simple gesture, but a powerful one. Feet in the sand, salt in the air, it was clear from the start that this evening wasn’t about posturing. It was about presence.

Dinner was served family-style, a menu curated to reflect not just flavour but feeling, sensory, shared, abundant. We passed platters with our hands, no cutlery between us and the experience. It made conversation feel easier, more fluid. You learn a lot about a person when you’re both reaching for the same dish.
The setup was disarmingly elegant: one long communal table stretched across the shoreline, framed by the sounds of the sea and the breeze, lit by intention rather than spectacle. Between the courses, there was music, storytelling, and an atmosphere that felt at once grounded and elevated, a rare balance that only seems to happen when nothing is forced, and everything flows.

The weekend unfolded in rhythms just as thoughtful. It began with a sunset cruise aboard the new Orca boat at Somabay Marina — welcome drinks in hand, soft conversations unfolding as the Red Sea blushed into dusk. Mornings brought slow breakfasts at Babbo’s Taverna, while welcome kits offered entry to Somabay’s wellness rituals: a Thalasso Aqua Tonic experience that left me feeling reset, rinsed clean by mineral-rich waters.

Our welcome letter included a QR code linking to curated local experiences — a subtle nudge to explore, to make the weekend our own. Whether that meant diving into Somabay’s coral reefs, kitesurfing against the horizon, horseback riding at golden hour, or simply soaking in the destination’s staggering natural beauty — the invitation was always to connect deeper.

Importantly, this Supper Club was just the beginning — the first in a series of networking concepts that will unfold across Somabay’s hospitality-managed assets. Each experience designed not just to showcase the destination, but to create meaningful points of connection through shared purpose, place, and presence.

And just before checkout, Somabay offered one last note of discovery: a morning on the golf course, where manicured greens met Red Sea blues in one final, signature moment of place.

Throughout the experience, every detail — from Stayr’s laid-back luxury accommodations to the warm, unobtrusive service — echoed the same message: that Somabay isn’t just a destination. It’s a philosophy. One where hospitality means more than welcome — it means belonging.

I came expecting a dinner. I left having lived something much deeper — the kind of weekend that lingers long after the last plate is cleared, and reminds you what real connection tastes like.
