Ministry of Culture Launches Plan for Cultural Heritage Protection
The initiative aims to develop a national plan for the preservation of the Kingdom's cultural heritage.
The Ministry of Culture has initiated a national project under the Saudi Cultural Memory Center, focusing on the collection, documentation, archiving and management of cultural heritage assets. This initiative is pivotal in constructing a comprehensive memory of Saudi culture, involving a thorough survey of both tangible and intangible cultural treasures that constitute the foundation of the Kingdom’s national identity.
The ministry will collaborate closely with stakeholders both within and outside the cultural system, spanning various cultural dimensions, and involving individuals. Workshops are conducted with stakeholders and local communities across different regions of the Kingdom, encouraging active community participation in this collaborative initiative, which serves as a foundational pillar for establishing a robust framework for the preservation of the Kingdom's cultural heritage.
The initiation of this project is aligned with the ministry's broader goal to create digital cultural content and establish a dependable knowledge source for the preservation of Saudi cultural heritage. These endeavours are aimed at laying the groundwork for a future in which cultural heritage is not only remembered but continues to thrive.
