How a Cairo Clinic is Tackling Menopause Stigma
Through education, honest conversations, and normalization, the dermatologist started a practice centred around a holistic approach to women’s health.
When Dr. Reem Nouman began noticing women struggling in silence with issues concerning their well-being, she felt compelled to do something about it. Issues like fatigue, weight changes, sleep issues, brain fog and mood shifts are all among the things that became common in conversations she had with patients.
As a dermatologist and expert in aesthetic medicine, Dr. Nouman has spent the majority of her career focused on caring for her patients and their health while identifying gaps in women’s healthcare.
In doing that work, she realised there was a gap that needed to be addressed.
“Menopause is one of the most misunderstood and underserved phases in a woman’s life. I saw brilliant women silently struggling,” Dr. Nouman told CairoScene. “I knew we needed a different model.”
Using her education and expertise in the field, Dr. Noumam founded Sol, a longevity boutique clinic dedicated exclusively to women’s longevity, vitality, and holistic wellbeing.
A longevity clinic is a personalised, science-driven space focused on helping people live better, not just longer. It takes a holistic approach to hormones, skin, energy, mindset, nutrition, movement to design care around quality of life, not symptoms alone.
“We talk about menopause openly. Medically, emotionally, and culturally,” Dr. Nouman said. “When women understand what’s happening in their bodies, fear disappears and empowerment begins.”
Sol differentiates itself from other clinics, Dr. Nouman said, because it brings everything a woman may need under one roof. This includes physiotherapy, on-site radiology, in-clinic lab testing, menopausal coaching, personalised nutrition, IV drips, and postnatal education.
Through this approach and the clinic itself, the dermatologist hopes to improve more than just the health of women. She wants to change the dynamic around talking about menopause and to empower others to be part of a changing story.
“I see menopause care as a pillar of education, support, and empowerment, not just treatment,” Dr. Nouman said. “By raising awareness early, especially during perimenopause, we can shift the narrative, so women feel heard, supported, and empowered to live fully, exactly the way they choose.”
