Charu Gandhi Designs a Sky-High Family Home Over One Palm Jumeirah
Charu Gandhi of Elicyon designs a family-oriented duplex at Dubai's One Palm Jumeirah, balancing formal and playful spaces with interiors that highlight views of the Gulf.

Perched above Dubai’s coastline in One Palm Jumeirah, this 23,000 sq ft duplex penthouse by Charu Gandhi of London-based studio Elicyon was imagined as a luxurious, high-rise family home that merges quiet sophistication with moments of play.
Designed from a raw shell over two and a half years, the space balances expansive formal entertaining zones with intimate, tactile areas crafted for daily life, all against sweeping views of the sea and skyline. The final layer saw the curation of artwork and accessories, many pieces designed by Charu Gandhi and others commissioned from local artisans and craftspeople.
A restrained, tactile palette was chosen to ensure the interiors complemented. rather than competed, with the penthouse’s views. Rich fabrics such as hand-painted silk wallpapers and finely woven European textiles evoke warmth and quiet opulence. Soft cottons, tonal linens and velvet are used throughout, creating a harmonious backdrop that sits comfortably within its dramatic setting.
On the lower ground floor, a sculptural staircase is finished in liquid bronze, with architectural lighting illuminating the marble treads and creating a sense of anticipation as one ascends. The entrance and formal reception area are defined by double-height screens made from fabric mesh encased in glass.
In the formal reception, the view of the Gulf remains dominant, complemented by a crystal chandelier that spans several metres. Additional spaces on this level include his and hers studies for private work, as well as a Moroccan hammam steam room featuring turquoise walls and domed niches inlaid with emerald mother of pearl and abalone shells.
The upper floor main suite continues the palette of pale blues, greys, and cream. Details include hand-painted silk wallpaper and Palissandro Bronze marble with subtle pink undertones for the bedside tables. The dressing area is designed to display watches and jewellery, reflecting the clients’ requirements for both elegance and function.
Children’s bedrooms are imbued with playful artistry. Charu Gandhi collaborated with a local artisan to create a floral motif in crafted leather, with one installation adorning the ceiling of the daughter’s room.
Dubai’s skyline and coastline are integral to the interior concept. The design team ensured the interiors have a presence that complements the sweeping views, enhancing rather than overshadowing the surrounding landscape. Every element, from material selection to curated artwork, shapes a sanctuary that celebrates its extraordinary views while remaining deeply personal and family-focused.
