New Documentary to Mark Youssef Chahine's Centenary
The National Centre for Cinema has unveiled the poster for a documentary celebrating the late filmmaker's legacy.
The National Centre for Cinema has unveiled the official poster for '100 Kalimat Hob.. Ala Iqaa Chahine', a new documentary produced as part of events marking the centenary of acclaimed Egyptian director Youssef Chahine.
The film traces Chahine's cinematic and personal journey, presenting an artistic perspective on his influence across generations and the creative legacy he left behind. Written and directed by Mohamed Hussein Hassan Ramadan, the documentary features cinematography by Nader Galal, sound design by Bassam Farahat and editing by Mena Habib.
Mohamed Al Arabi serves as executive director, while Haitham El Bagoury designed the poster and Mohamed Hamdy acts as production manager. The project is supervised by Heba Abdel Maaboud, who currently oversees the General Administration of Production. Structured around testimonies and critical reflections from filmmakers and critics, the documentary explores Chahine's place in film history and his continuing influence on successive generations of creators.
The work is framed around a central question translated as, "Has Chahine really gone?", presenting the film as a tribute to the director and his enduring presence in Egyptian and international cinema.
According to the National Centre for Cinema, the production forms part of a broader effort to preserve Egypt's cinematic memory and document the careers of influential filmmakers for future generations.
