Mexican Spot Gracias Put Shawarma in... Tacos?
The intersection between Mexican and Egyptian cuisine is shredded off a sikh and covered in guacamole.

When one thinks of shawarma, the image that shows up in our minds is no longer just tomeya and saj bread. The meat and poultry form comes in so many forms it’s become a genre of its own; there’s Syrian, Lebanese and Egyptian variations. In between those, we’ve seen veggie shawarma and shawarma that’s made out of fish; it really has become a world of its own.
This particular shawarma rendition, however, was beyond our realm of expectations: shawarma tacos. The creation, made perfect by Mexican food hotspot Gracias, treads the fine line between entirely foreign and somewhat familiar. It is, after all, shawarma, even if it’s redder than usual and drenched in guacamole.
