USD 1 Billion Esports Island Will Level Up Gaming in Abu Dhabi

Gaming lounge operator True Gamers has revealed their plans to construct Abu Dhabi's first island dedicated to competitive video gaming. At an estimated cost of USD 1 billion, with True Gamers committing between USD 280 million and USD 300 million towards the endeavour, the 'esports island' will be the first of its kind in the world, with sections for competition, training and athlete accommodation.

The proposed construction site would place the island between Al Bandar and Al Dana at Al Raha Beach, facing Yas Island on one side and Raha Beach's housing developments on the other side. One area, called The Digital Tower, would serve as a hub for startup-accelerators and animation studios, while another area, TG Arena, would feature special spaces for esports tournaments as well as a computer club with about 100 PCs, a section for console gaming and a space dedicated to simulated racing. There will also be a bootcamp area, with accommodation built in accordance with input from leading esports team managers.

True Gamers operates 14 gaming lounges in Dubai, with over 100 more in Eastern Europe. In January 2024, True Gamers announced plans to build 150 branches in Saudi Arabia after securing USD 45 million in funding.
