UAE's Criminal Case Processing to Be Enhanced With AI & Blockchain
AI will support prosecutors at every stage of criminal proceedings, while blockchain will secure evidence and case files.

The UAE Public Prosecution has announced a major digital transformation of its criminal justice system, integrating artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and virtual reality to streamline case processing, and enhance legal accuracy and security.
The initiative, unveiled at the Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit in Abu Dhabi, aims to significantly reduce the time needed to handle cases while increasing transparency. AI will be embedded at every stage of the process — from classifying complaints to assisting prosecutors in assessing evidence, identifying contradictions, and summarising complex legal files. AI tools will also prioritise police reports according to urgency and severity, speeding up decision-making.
Blockchain technology will ensure the integrity of evidence by tracking seized items, protecting digital data, and maintaining the chain of custody throughout the judicial process.
Meanwhile, virtual reality will be introduced to recreate crime scenes, offering courts and investigators immersive visualisations to better understand incidents. Predictive AI models will also help identify criminal patterns and support early intervention strategies.
To ensure fairness, prosecutors will work directly with developers to mitigate potential biases in AI systems, integrating legal oversight from the start of tool design.
This initiative forms part of the UAE Public Prosecution’s wider 2045 roadmap, which seeks to position the country at the forefront of global legal innovation while advancing the UAE’s commitment to cutting-edge digital governance.
