UAE Food Tech Firm Red Planet Develops 25-Year Shelf-Life Meals
UAE-based company Red Planet is developing ready-to-eat meals with a 25-year shelf life using freeze-drying technology to maintain flavour, nutrition, and safety—no refrigeration needed.

Red Planet, a UAE-based food tech company, is preparing to launch a new line of ready-to-eat meals designed to remain shelf-stable for up to 25 years. The meals are preserved using advanced freeze-drying technology that maintains taste, texture, and nutritional value without relying on refrigeration or artificial preservatives.
The product line will include a range of Halal-certified dishes tailored to regional dietary preferences, such as Chicken Biryani, Meat Machboos, Balaleet with Eggs, and Scrambled Eggs. The meals are being developed for multiple use cases including emergency preparedness, disaster relief, military deployment, and long-duration space missions.
Red Planet says the initiative supports long-term food security goals and aligns with the UAE’s broader sustainability agenda. By reducing dependence on cold chain logistics and minimising food spoilage, the company aims to address global challenges around food waste and emergency nutrition.
The meals are currently undergoing regulatory approval. If approved, the project may position the UAE as a hub for innovation in shelf-stable food systems, with potential applications in both civilian and specialised contexts.
