UAE Draft Law Introduces Fines for Parents Who Skip Child Vaccinations
Vaccines remain free for children under the national immunisation programme, with exemptions for medical conditions.
Parents and guardians in the United Arab Emirates could face fines ranging from AED 5,000 to AED 20,000 if they fail to ensure their children receive mandatory vaccinations under the country’s national immunisation programme.
The measure forms part of amendments to the infectious diseases law approved by the Federal National Council, aimed at strengthening public health protections and limiting the spread of communicable diseases.
Under the national immunisation programme, vaccines for children remain free of charge and are provided through authorised healthcare facilities across the country. Exemptions may apply in cases where medical conditions prevent vaccination, as determined by relevant health authorities.
Officials stated that childhood vaccinations are mandatory as part of the UAE’s public health framework, which seeks to maintain high immunisation coverage and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks.
