Saudi Food Laws Now Cover Delivery & Tracking Services

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in coordination with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), has updated the Table of Food Law Violations to include new provisions regulating delivery personnel, food tracking, handling of food poisoning cases, and record keeping.

The updates also introduce stricter consumer transparency measures. Food establishments are now required to display details such as salt and caffeine content on menus, along with information on physical activity equivalents, to help consumers make more informed dietary choices and encourage healthier lifestyles.

The revised table forms part of an integrated oversight system prioritising prevention over penalties. Minor violations will result in warnings and a grace period for corrective action, while more serious breaches that pose risks to public health will incur immediate penalties. The measures also account for the size and type of establishments to ensure fair application across small, medium, and large enterprises.

The updated Table of Food Law Violations is available on the Ministry’s official website.
