Riyadh Zoo Reopens With Free Entry for Riyadh Season 2025
The Al Malaz site spans 161,000 square metres, with more than 1,600 animals across six habitat zones.
Riyadh Zoo officially reopened with complimentary entry offered as part of Riyadh Season 2025. Located in the Al Malaz district, the 161,000 square metre site houses more than 1,600 animals across six areas designed to mirror natural habitats, including swamps, forests and coasts.
New attractions include an elephant-experience tour and an elevated viewing platform at the giraffe and African wildlife exhibit. In addition, the zoo features daily live performances such as circus and magic shows, roaming musicians and dancers, as well as food, retail and children’s activity areas. Visitors can take part in activities such as animal feeding and educational workshops.
The venue has a capacity of up to 12,000 people, with tickets available through the WeBook platform.
First opened in 1957, the zoo was previously known as the Riyadh Zoological Gardens and began as a private menagerie for King Saud and the Saudi royal family before opening to the public in 1987. It underwent extensive refurbishment in 2008 after reports of declining visitor numbers, after which it reported a 200% increase.
