Riyadh School Sets Guinness Record With 500 Student-Written Books

Students at Alif International School in Riyadh have set a Guinness World Record after simultaneously launching 500 student-authored books, marking the highest number of student-written titles released in a single coordinated effort. The achievement was formally recognised during a ceremony titled Book Bloom 500, attended by students, parents, teachers and community members.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Pravin Patel confirmed that the initiative met all required criteria, describing it as “a remarkable literary milestone” achieved as part of the largest creative writing lesson of its kind. The event brought together the school community to mark the collective launch and record certification.

School principal Mohammed Mustafa said the initiative grew out of the school’s Read and Rejoice programme, which was introduced as part of its co-curricular activities. He said the aim was to help students build a lasting relationship with books while developing language skills, critical thinking and emotional awareness. The ceremony also included performances by younger students to mark the occasion.
