AI Made in Morocco Initiative Launches to Boost Health Tech

The Morocco Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform has launched the ‘AI Made in Morocco’ initiative, a programme designed to build a national innovation ecosystem and encourage the development of locally designed artificial intelligence solutions.

The initiative was introduced during a scientific seminar held at the Euro‑Mediterranean University of Fez under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Innovation in the Digital Transformation of Enterprises and Their Applications in Industry X.0 and Health Industries.”

Speaking at the event, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Morocco’s Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administration Reform, described artificial intelligence as a strategic driver of economic and industrial transformation.

The initiative forms part of the Digital Morocco 2030 Strategy, which positions artificial intelligence as a central component of the country’s long-term economic and technological development. Authorities said the strategy aligns with the national vision of King Mohammed VI to integrate digital innovation into the modernisation of Morocco’s economy.

Officials noted the rapid global expansion of the artificial intelligence sector, with the market projected to grow from approximately $189 billion in 2023 to about $4.8 trillion by 2033.

During the seminar, a founding agreement was also signed to establish the Al‑Jazari Institute of Industry X.0, which will focus on strengthening research, innovation and cooperation between universities and industry.

The agreement was signed by the ministries of Industry and Commerce, Digital Transition and Administration Reform, and Economy and Finance, alongside academic partners including Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Moulay Ismail University and Al Akhawayn University.
