Ramadan Enrichment Plan Launched to Support Women at the Grand Mosque
A new Ramadan plan introduces six service tracks and 24 initiatives aimed at enhancing the experience of female worshippers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
The Women’s Affairs Agency at the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has launched a Ramadan enrichment plan at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, setting out six operational tracks and 24 initiatives designed to support female worshippers throughout the holy month.
The plan focuses on enriching women’s religious experience while preserving the sanctity of the site. Its objectives include enhancing Shariah and behavioural awareness, strengthening religious services, empowering women working within the mosque environment, and ensuring a high standard of organisation and care during peak Ramadan periods.
Six core tracks structure the programme: awareness and guidance, scholarly and guidance affairs, enrichment and volunteering, women’s empowerment, public relations and communication, and development and quality. Under the awareness and guidance track, field teams will increase their presence in high-density areas to provide religious guidance, respond to worship-related questions, address misconceptions, and distribute multilingual educational materials.
The scholarly and guidance track will deliver lessons, talks, and enrichment programmes aimed at deepening devotional knowledge and reinforcing moderate Islamic values. The enrichment and volunteering track expands opportunities for female volunteers to support organisational and service functions, contributing to smoother operations during Ramadan.
Women’s empowerment initiatives focus on developing the professional and cognitive skills of female staff and preparing qualified women to serve worshippers at both the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. Meanwhile, the public relations and communication track prioritises engagement with female worshippers and coordination with relevant entities to ensure services are integrated and accessible.
