New Al Layan Oasis to Transform Desert Landscape in Dubai
Dubai’s AED 4 billion Al Layan Oasis will anchor a one million square metre site with a lake, theatre and open air cinema.
Plans for Al Layan Oasis in Dubai outline a one million square metre desert destination centred around a 250,000 square metre man made lake, with an open air cinema, outdoor theatre and food truck plaza among its attractions.
Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the AED 4 billion project forms part of Dubai’s Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030.
The masterplan includes 14 kilometres of walking and cycling paths, four kilometres of which will be elevated five metres above ground to offer panoramic views and connect with existing routes in Al Marmoom. The development will also feature a fully equipped visitor centre, children’s play areas, 1,000 parking spaces and 100 caravan camping spots, with a target of 330,000 visitors annually.
The destination will be organised into four zones. The Camping Oasis will provide space for 100 caravans alongside a visitor centre focused on environmental awareness and education. The Family Oasis will include 28 rest areas, children’s play zones and integrated amenities. The Gathering Oasis will host an open air cinema, amphitheatre, food truck plaza and event spaces. The Recreation Oasis will accommodate outdoor activities, retail outlets and service facilities within a landscaped setting.
A total of 365,000 square metres has been allocated for private sector participation within the project.
The broader Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030 aims to plant approximately 1.5 million trees over five years, deliver more than 45 landscaping and beautification projects, and introduce 120 new parks covering nearly 3 million square metres across Dubai.
