Mobile Operators in Egypt to Provide Free Calls to Six Arab States
Subscribers in Egypt receive five free international minutes to contact relatives abroad.
Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority has instructed mobile operators to grant subscribers five free international minutes to contact relatives in six Arab countries amid ongoing regional developments.
The complimentary minutes can be used to call Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. The measure is intended to help citizens maintain communication with family members abroad during the current period of heightened tensions.
The regulator said it is closely monitoring the situation and will coordinate with mobile operators to take any necessary steps to ensure subscribers continue receiving effective and secure telecommunications services.
Separately, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated a dedicated WhatsApp hotline—+201222285800—to handle inquiries from Egyptian nationals in countries affected by the escalating military confrontation. The channel allows direct communication with consular officials regarding safety and well-being.c
