Life Expectancy in Saudi Arabia Nears 80 Years
Universal Health Coverage score reached 83 after a nine point rise in two years, with digital platforms expanding access.
Saudi Arabia’s average life expectancy has climbed to around 79.7 years, bringing the Kingdom close to its Vision 2030 target of 80 years, new data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank indicate. The increase reflects improvements in healthcare access, preventive care and digital health services implemented under national reform programmes.
The latest metrics show that Saudi Arabia’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) index reached 83 points, up nine points in just two years, positioning the country among nations with high levels of health coverage globally. Health authorities and WHO officials say this rise supports broader gains in public health outcomes.
Saudi health officials attribute progress to reforms launched under Vision 2030’s Health Sector Transformation Programme, which prioritises disease prevention, strengthened primary care and widespread adoption of digital health platforms such as Sehhaty and the Seha Virtual Hospital. These platforms have increased service accessibility and efficiency for patients nationwide.
