Internet of Things Vehicle Services to Expand in Egypt

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has signed licensing agreements with seven automotive companies to introduce Internet of Things (IoT) services for vehicles in Egypt. The move will enable features such as navigation, vehicle tracking, and emergency assistance. The licences were granted to General Motors’ OnStar, Mansour MG Automotive (IM), Global Auto (BMW), Alfa Ezz Elarab (Volvo, Aston Martin, Lotus, Lynk&Co), EIM (Zeekr, BAIC), Egyptian Automotive Trading (Audi, Skoda), and SMG Engineering (Porsche, Scania). According to the authority, the new services will provide drivers with access to smart systems while ensuring the protection of user data and privacy. The initiative forms part of Egypt’s broader Digital Egypt strategy, which aims to expand smart infrastructure and improve digital services nationwide. The NTRA highlighted that the introduction of IoT-enabled vehicles marks a significant step toward building an integrated smart transport system, reinforcing Egypt’s commitment to adopting advanced digital ecosystems and safeguarding user rights.
