Giza Joins UNESCO Creative Cities Network for Film

Giza has joined UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network for 2025 in the field of film. The announcement coincided with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum on November 1st, 2025. Previously, the Creative Cities Network included over 350 cities worldwide recognised for their excellence in cultural and creative industries. Membership provides access to collaborative projects, capacity-building support and global visibility for local creative sectors. Giza's cultural and film-industry assets—such as studio clusters, the National Centre for Cinema and major production sites—were cited during the application process as part of the justification for the film-category recognition. The Giza governorate plans to implement a comprehensive action plan to capture the benefits of this distinction and to support youth, filmmakers and media professionals in the region.
