Fakeeh University Hospital to Open Smart Triage Clinics in Dubai

Fakeeh University Hospital is introducing artificial intelligence-powered smart clinics designed to automate vital-sign checks and connect patients to remote physicians. The first self-contained pod is scheduled to open this year in Dubai Silicon Oasis, with 20 additional units planned.
Patients access the pod using their Emirates ID, which links to health authority records. The system records heart rate, blood pressure, height, weight, blood oxygen levels and blood sugar before initiating a video consultation with a physician. The private units are fitted with frosted glass, and the hospital stated that patient data is secured within the system. The technology was showcased at Dubai World Health Expo as part of efforts to expand primary care access into community locations.
According to the hospital, an earlier hybrid model was tested at Dubai International Airport, combining a physical consultation room with a digital kiosk before transitioning to a fully self-operated pod. The model includes built-in referral pathways for cases requiring escalation to hospital-based care, allowing routine consultations to be handled closer to residential and workplace hubs.
The rollout comes amid broader global workforce pressures. A 2025 World Health Organization report cited a global shortage of approximately 5.8 million nurses as of 2023, with nearly half of the world’s 29.8 million nurses concentrated in high-income countries.
