Egypt’s Population Rises by Half a Million in 126 Days
Cairo remains the largest governorate at 10.5 million.
Egypt’s population inside the country reached 108.5 million, an increase of half a million people over 126 days. The figure was shown by the population clock at the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics, which tracks residents within Egypt’s borders. The agency noted that the count reached 108 million on August 16th, 2025. The first additional 250,000 were recorded by October 14th, 2025, after 59 days, and a further 250,000 were added over the following 67 days to reach 108.5 million. Cairo remains the most populous governorate with 10.5 million residents, followed by Giza with 9.8 million, Sharqia with 8.1 million, Dakahlia with 7.2 million, Beheira with 7.1 million, Minya with 6.6 million, Qalyubia with 6.3 million, Sohag with 6 million, Alexandria with 5.7 million, and Gharbia with 5.6 million. Further reported figures include Assiut at 5.3 million, Monufia at 4.9 million, Fayoum at 4.3 million, Kafr El Sheikh at 3.8 million, Qena at 3.8 million, and Beni Suef at 3.7 million. Smaller-population governorates recorded: Aswan at 1.7 million, Damietta at 1.7 million, Ismailia at 1.5 million, Luxor at 1.5 million, Suez at 812.3 thousand, Port Said at 803.4 thousand, Matrouh at 593.2 thousand, North Sinai at 495.1 thousand, Red Sea at 417.8 thousand, New Valley at 275.4 thousand, and South Sinai at 119.5 thousand.
