Egypt Becomes First MENA Country to Host Weightlifting World Cup

Egypt has been chosen to become the first MENA nation to host the Weightlifting World Cup this February. While the event usually takes place in Russia, Egypt was chosen to play host to this year’s championship after a long postponement. An exact location is yet to be announced. 

President of the Egyptian Physical Strength Federation Major General Mahmoud Barakat explained that Egypt was chosen due to the incredible number of world-class events that already took place in Egypt during 2022, as well as the nation’s numerous rising and established weightlifting champions.
