Aviation Industry Adds USD 90 Billion to Saudi Economy in 2025
Aviation now contributes 8.5% of Saudi GDP and supports 1.4 million jobs, as IATA highlights the Kingdom’s rising global role.

Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector generated USD 90.6 billion for the national economy in 2025, accounting for 8.5% of GDP, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The industry now supports 1.4 million jobs across direct, indirect, and tourism-related sectors.
At a recent regional forum, IATA underlined Saudi Arabia’s growing importance in global air travel, pointing to its rapid infrastructure expansion and ambitious fleet development. The Kingdom is adding 1.5 million seats through new aircraft orders and the launch of new carriers, including the flagship Riyadh Air, part of a wider strategy to establish Saudi Arabia as a key global aviation hub.
The sector’s contribution extends beyond air transport, with significant economic activity generated through supply chains and tourism services linked to air connectivity.
Saudi Arabia’s aviation industry has been in motion for more than a decade, backed by airport expansions, liberalisation policies, and major investments aimed at diversifying the economy beyond oil.
