Sales rose 48% from last season, with more than 2,000 tonnes traded and participation from over 1,600 farmers.
The Royal Commission for AlUla’s dates auction recorded revenues exceeding SAR 13 million (USD 3.4 million), a 48% rise from last season, with more than 2,000 tonnes sold as part of this year’s AlUla Dates Festival.
More than 1,600 farmers took part alongside strong interest from traders and investors. The festival, which celebrates the date palm as a symbol of the region’s agricultural heritage, is running until November 15th, 2025.
AlUla is one of Saudi Arabia’s largest date-producing regions, spanning more than 15,000 hectares of palm farms. It has 4.1 million trees that yield 170,000 tonnes annually. The harvest season runs from August 15th to October 30th, with Barni dates — the region’s most famous variety — accounting for 80% of production.
