Al-Azhar Expands Educational Programmes for People With Disabilities
The initiative offers a range of programmes including Qur’an memorisation, lessons in recitation and Tajweed, and Arabic language instruction.

Al-Azhar Mosque has announced the expansion of its educational initiative for people with disabilities, opening new halls across its branches in Egypt’s governorates. The move follows the implementation of Al-Azhar’s tailored programmes, which have significantly contributed to integrating people with disabilities into community life. The initiative offers a range of programmes including Qur’an memorisation, lessons in recitation and Tajweed, Arabic language instruction, and workshops in handwriting and calligraphy. It also includes sign language lessons and accessible religious sessions designed to ensure equal learning opportunities. The initiative joins Al-Azhar’s broader educational and social programmes, which also include activities for women, children, and families—reinforcing its role in promoting Islamic education and social cohesion across Egypt.
