Saudi Arabia Publishes National Guide for Public Art

Saudi Arabia's Visual Arts Commission has released a national standards guide for public art, providing a framework for how artworks in streets, squares and other public spaces should be planned, commissioned, managed and maintained.

The guide has been published in both full and condensed editions, with the commission saying it is intended for government entities, practitioners and the public. The full version combines theoretical principles with practical guidance covering every stage of a public art project, from planning and implementation to long-term management.

According to the commission, the guide aims to raise awareness of public art, standardise terminology and strengthen coordination between artistic, urban and cultural planning. It also supports efforts to develop the public art sector, enrich the visual environment, improve quality of life and reinforce the Kingdom's position as a hub for creativity and contemporary art in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Both editions are available through the commission's website to expand access to specialised knowledge, support professional practice and encourage the growth of Saudi Arabia's visual arts sector.
